RECIEVE A GIFT

For the month of June, Umlaut has been running a donation campaign for lightly used AP/SAT/ACT/Subject Test preparatory books to donate to our foster youth. Thanks to our amazing donors, we have collected over 70 study resources including textbooks, workbooks, and flashcards. Check our Donations List and make a request for materials through our Material Request Form! If you want to see the product before we deliver it, send us an email and we will attach a video of the donation.

Delivery Process

At Umlaut, we value the safety of our team and our foster youth. When delivering a package, we ensure items have been quarantined for at least a week before wiping surfaces with a sanitary wipe. We continue to take measures to avoid contamination by handling deliverables with gloves, masks, and care. For any further concerns, please email our CCO at chloe@umlautfoundation.com.

Donation Policies

Umlaut Foundation accepts donations of all shapes and sizes. However, in respect for our foster youth, we ask that you abide by the following policies.

Determining Your Book's Condition

Umlaut is looking for lightly used books to support our foster youth on their academic journey. Please refer to the below descriptions to determine the condition of your book.
Acceptable‍

  • NEW: no defects/little usage
  • FINE: shows some signs of wear, light markings
  • FAIR: heavy marking on practice pages, missing practice pages, little to no lightly-soiled pages

Unacceptable

If your book matches any of the following descriptions, please refrain from donating it.

  • On informational pages: markings interfere with readability
  • On informational pages: missing/torn pages
  • On any pages: heavily soiled/stained pages

If you are still unsure about the condition of your book, please send photos of the pages in question to our instagram page: @umlautfoundation, or our email: umlautfoundation@gmail.com.

Regarding COVID-19

At Umlaut, we value the safety of our team and our donors. When donating a non-paperback book, we ask that you wipe down the surface of the book using a sanitary wipe. Depending on your choice of Pick-Up or Drop-Off, we ask that you follow their respective measures.

Pick-Up

For pick-up donations, provide your pick-up address in the form below (we are accepting donations within a 40 minute drive from Pleasanton, California). When choosing a pick-up date, please make sure your book(s) are outside of your door by the designated time. Please place your book(s) at a safe distance from your home and in an area where potentially harmful weather conditions can not damage your book. For your safety, our team will arrive wearing protective gear, and send you a confirmation text once we pick-up your book(s). If you live in a gated community, or if there are any extraneous factors that may affect the pick-up procedure, please email us at umlautfoundation@gmail.com.

Drop-Off

For drop-off donations, choose one of the addresses provided below. Upon arrival, please place your book(s) in the indicated drop-off area. If you must change your designated date/time/location, please send us an email at umlautfoundation@gmail.com.
