BROWN PRECOLLEGE PROGRAM

As detailed in our previous newsletters, Umlaut has launched its Summer Program Initiative. The Summer Program Initiative is a chance for foster youth to learn about summer camps from alumni/camp representatives and receive application aid. Everyone is welcome to attend; we are excited to see volunteers, foster youth, caregivers, liaisons, and more at the Discovery Lectures on different camps.

On the first Friday of February, our CCO, Chloe Fields, spoke about her experience at Brown Pre-College Program. Specifically, Summer@Brown, an opportunity for “high school students to replicate the authentic college experience.” Summer@Brown offers many different programs while giving students the freedom to explore the campus and Providence. Chloe took a two-week course on public health and epidemiology. Check out her lecture slides published online, and reach out to her on our Wish List of one-on-one application guidance!

MATH LAB

STARTING WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, 2020 FOR PLEASANTON UNIFIED YOUTH/VOLUNTEERS ONLY

Umlaut Foundation will host Math Labs for only Pleasanton youth/volunteers as a trial program. Once we have successfully implemented the program, we will work to branch out the program to our non-PUSD foster youth and volunteers.

Pleasanton Unified foster/AAFN youth will be able to attend Umlaut Foundation hosted Zoom calls in which on-call volunteers can answer questions and help out with math problems. Our first Math Lab will be on Wednesday, October 28th, from 4 PM - 6 PM. The Zoom call invitation will be sent to email addresses submitted to our Math Lab Attendee Form. The link will also be distributed by the Pleasanton Unified Foster and Kinship Youth Liaison, Ms. Montgomery, and/or by the AAFN Parent Liaison, Ms. Bass. There is no deadline for the Math Lab Attendee Form.
